CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The Pennsylvania Public Health Association, the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health, the Penn State College of Medicine’s Public Health Program, the Society for Public Health Education - Pennsylvania Chapter, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center, will offer a one-day conference, Pennsylvania Public Health Matters! People, Strategies, and Policies to Advance Healthy Communities which will highlight community and public health issues and initiatives for diverse and underserved populations. Abstracts are now being accepted on topics that address:
Innovative community and public health strategies
Best practices in improving the health of special and underserved populations focusing on migrant and immigrant farmworkers
Use of data-driven and evidence-based practices in public and community health
Intersection of public health and nutrition.
Abstracts may be delivered in two formats. Please note your preference on the submission.
Oral Presentations are presentations given to an audience. The duration of oral presentations may vary by session. Abstract submission requires a description of the issue/problem, methods, findings, conclusions, and practical implications or recommendations for implementation. The presentations will be organized in sessions with associated topics.
Poster Sessions are visual displays of a project or research on poster boards. A poster includes an abstract, methods, results and findings, conclusions and practical implications or recommendations for implementation. The presenter will be assigned a specific time to present the poster.
SUBMISSION PROCESS & TERMS OF AGREEMENT
• To submit an abstract for an oral presentation or a poster session, complete the form and click “submit.”
• Students are encouraged to submit abstracts.
• All submissions must include learning objectives, a completed biographical data form, keywords, and a completed conflict of interest disclosure statement.
• Questions about abstract submission can be sent to porh@psu.edu.
• Abstracts must be received by 5:00 pm on December 5, 2024. By submitting an abstract, you agree to the following:
o Your abstract may be accepted as a type of presentation other than that which you have indicated as preferred (oral or poster).
o The presenters names and presentation title will be published in the conference program; and
Conference registration and payment of the registration fee is required for all presenters whose abstracts have been accepted. Anyone at the conference attending, presenting, or co-presenting, is required to register and pay prior to the conference. Presenters also are responsible for travel costs to attend this event.
All submission authors will be notified of abstract status via the e-mail provided on this form on or before December 20, 2024.
